Frequently Asked Questions

Busy Bee Candles most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).  We encourage you to contact us with your comments and questions in addition to browsing the answers below.

Why do your candles burn so well?

Busy Bee Candles are made from Soy Wax which has a lower melting point than most paraffin waxes.  This allows more wax to melt at the base of the flame and thus keeps the wick working well.  It also helps to “launch” the fragrance into the room.

How do I remove the wax from my wax tart warmers?

Busy Bee Candles Wax Tarts, Hot Shots and Magik Beanz are very easy to remove from your Wax Warmer. Here’s our little guide.

Extinguish your tea light & let your burner cool completely

Remove the tea light from your burner

Place the whole ceramic oil burner (or the glass dish on some burners) into your freezer for 10-20 minutes

Remove the burner from the freezer and you will see that the solid wax has “popped” off from the burner

Place the wax disc in a little plastic bag to keep it as fresh as possible (or discard if finished)

Place a new Busy Bee Candles Wax Tart in your Oil Burner and relight a tea light

Repeat as often as you like!

How do I trim the wick on your scented candles?

Trimming the wick is easy.  Using a pair of scissors (or your fingers and a tissue wrapped around the wick), reach down into the jar and snip off the end of the wick.

Always leave about 3-6mm of the wick exposed from the wax and remove the waste bit of wick.  Relight the candle and enjoy.  Repeat this as often as is necessary.  It will prolong the life of the candle by using less wax and provide a better fragrance throw.

Trim the wick on our Classic Scented Candles and Elegance Scented Candles to control the flame size on your jar candles. You obviously don’t need to trim the wick on our Magik Candles. There isn’t one!

How should I keep my candles in the best condition?

Our candles need no special attention to keep them at their best.  Just follow these simple steps.

Trim the wick as often as is required.

Keep your candles at normal room temperature (about 20 deg. Celsius).

Keep them out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.

For more information check out the Candle Care and Safety page.

I kept my candle on a hot surface and then realised what I’d done. I moved it quickly back to somewhere cooler! Is this going to damage my candle?

You will not have damaged the candle as long as it has not all melted and the wick slumped back into the wax.  Just trim the wick, relight and enjoy.
